7 Things

Happy Thursday! I took some days off last week from blogging (just really wanted to enjoy my few days off!) and am back. Last weekend we got to go cross-country skiing together at Jackson Ski Touring (they have a million groomed trails) and WOW is skate skiing hard work or what?!? Definitely convinced that cross country skiers are some of the fittest athletes around.

Had Banana Pancakes and of course, I had to have Alexa play ‘Banana Pancakes’ by Jack Johnson (anyone else obsessed with that song in High School?!? I honestly still really like it 😂).

IMG_0122.jpeg

Wore my first-ever crocheted hat! Not too bad for my “first pancake”

IMG_0123.jpeg

Finished this book and it is SO GOOD. One of my favorite fiction books that I’ve read in a while.

IMG_0119.jpeg

Made featherstone nutrition’s Buffalo Mac and Cheese and played some board games (Ticket To Ride)!

IMG_0124.jpeg

Got a new shoe delivery and can’t wait to try out these Clifton 7’s! I had one other pair of Hokas that I literally wore for over 500 miles and almost cried when I had to retire them. Waiting for a dry weather day so I can take them for a spin. Anyone else hate to get new shoes dirty?!

IMG_0129.jpeg

Found a new shoe heater. We’re happy to rent him out free of charge.

Happy Monday! I’m on a 4-day work stretch and am missing this little love so much. Good thing she loves bothering Alex at work (at home) so much.

IMG_5971.jpeg

Big into crockpot meals lately and this Chicken Pot Pie Stew and biscuits recipe was super delicious.

IMG_0070.jpeg

Got in some cross country skiing on Friday afternoon and I ONLY FELL ONCE! I’m pretty terrible at going downhill with my skis (they’re older ones so are quite slick with no edge), so ended up just popping them off when we got to going down hills. Something to work on!

IMG_0077.jpeg

It was also super nice (& a bit scary!) to ski across the lake.

IMG_0079.jpeg

Happy to report that I’m still loving bubble baths after my longer runs. So nice to relax and warmup after a cold workout.

IMG_0069.jpeg

Hoping to get in more time with my indoor trainer in the next few months since I signed up for a triathlon this summer!

IMG_0071.jpeg

Making puppy friends on the run is my favorite. I normally don’t stop my watch when I stop and pet them (unless I’m in a workout) because I’m just out here to relieve stress and have fun!

  • Do you have the day off work today?

  • Do you pause your watch or let it keep going if you stop for a minute or two?

Happy Monday! Typing this out at 4am during my lunch break at work. Healthcare life is weird sometimes.

IMG_0040.jpeg

At least we got out for a snowshoe together on Saturday before I started my next 3-day work stretch! Love how we can make a mile loop in our backyard.

IMG_0033.jpeg

Tested out this grain seasoning on fresh homemade white crusty bread and it was delicious!

IMG_0017.jpeg

I might have found my new favorite thing to help me fall asleep at night. It tastes decadent, I stay asleep for at least 8 hours, and I don’t wake-up ‘foggy’ like Melatonin sometimes makes me.

IMG_0035.jpeg

Still have a sweet spot for snowy runs. I love the quietness and quant feeling that running in falling snow brings.

IMG_0037.jpeg

Our girl kitty, Maples is feeling much better after her surgery last week (she got a Bladder Stone removed)! Even was into watching Jeopardy too. We both really miss Alex from hosting the show, but honestly Ken is doing a great job!

Oops signed up for another race (probably will be virtual, but excited for my first triathlon!)

Happy February?!? Normally I feel like January TAKES FOREVER to end, but this month just flew by. Happy to report that I’m fully vaccinated as of last Thursday.

IMG_9982.jpeg

Also celebrated with a trip to King Arthur Baking Company (if you couldn’t tell from the photo) and it was EVERYTHING. I mean- look at all this flour 😍

IMG_9980.jpeg

Also got the best Lemon Poppy Muffin mix from there (along with so many wonderful extra baking supplies).

IMG_9988.jpeg

The second virus dose gave me some more side effects than the first one (to be expected), so I did almost nothing on Friday (actually I might have met a record for the amount of times that Netflix asked me ‘Are You Still Watching?’). But I did also started On Pointe on Disney Plus and I’m basically obsessed. Love shoes like this.

IMG_9990.jpeg

Also had lots of cat cuddles the past few days (I worked on Sunday). This is the only way that Brady will snuggle with me: AS CLOSE TO MY FACE AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE.

IMG_9987.jpeg

My muscle aches and chills/mild fever and pure exhaustion went away Saturday morning (I got my second dose Thursday morning at 8:30 and started experiencing symptoms at 6pm Thursday), but I still took my exercise easy just in case. Did an hour on the treadmill rather than 2 and some strength training and indoor cycling.

IMG_9989.jpeg

Back to work on Sunday and hoping that the snowstorm that we’re getting on Tuesday comes early so I can make it home Tuesday night (rather than staying over) 🤞🏻Flashback to the last time we were only supposed to get ‘6 inches early in the day’- we got 33” 🙀

Happy Monday! I’m coming off working two Day shifts at the hospital and have two Night shifts on-tap tonight and tomorrow night. Things like decaf coffee this morning & a long afternoon nap help me switch my sleep schedule.

IMG_9966.jpeg

I missed watching the race live, but I cannot even imagine missing your goal BY 11 SECONDS in something as long as a 100k. 🤯That’s like one short hiking section or just a slight pick-up on a downhill section. Can’t wait to watch him try again and completely crush his goal.

IMG_9965.jpeg

Tested out my new Lululemon Down For It All running coat and so glad I finally splurged on it. It was 50% and I 100% recommend it (I also sized-up since I know I’ll be wearing a layer underneath).

Very much living for the Bernie Memes lately. This one is one of my favorites (huge fan of The Sound Of Music)

IMG_9964.jpeg

Planning my next trip to Trader Joe’s to pick up some of these. Pretty obsessed with their Everything But The. I love to sprinkle it on Avocado toast, Eggs, Bagel with Cream Cheese… What are your favorites?

IMG_9938.jpeg

Getting my second Moderna COVID vaccine on Thursday & trying to plan my runs/workouts around that! Isn’t it funny how you plan your running around life events and still make it all work? I know the side-effects might be a bit worse, so hoping to get in my longer run either later on Friday or Saturday. I normally like to get my long run in earlier in the week, but I’m making it work.

IMG_9715.jpeg

I’m still loving the Peloton App for all things Yoga/Strength Training/Meditation. Planning on doing Kristin McGee’s Wicked Yoga this morning before my run. Also researching how to become a certified Yoga Instructor- not so much because I’d like to teach, but because I want to learn more about it. It’s always been one of my favorite ways to de-stress and connect with my body. Throwback to Summer Days with Stella and yoga in the grass.
