These Stories Are Inspiring & Mental Prep For My First Ultra!

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend! I'm slowly transitioning to more trail running and getting mentally prepared for my first ultra (50k) in less than 3 weeks! It's been fun and challenging to be both 'relaxed' and 'prepared' with my training schedule this month, but I really think that because of the mental strength I gained during my relay I'm pretty prepared for it (my legs may disagree after the race ha).

I recently came across this story at Runner's World that blew.my.mind! This guy is 98 years-old and just completed the Mount Washington Road Race! This race is on my bucket list and I cannot believe he just did it at his age. I am so inspired by his story and hope to still be able crush amazing goals at ninety-plus!

On a completely different topic, did you know that soccer refs for the World Cup typically run 6 to 8 miles per game?!? Alex is a huge soccer fan (and used to be pretty good at it many years ago (or so he says).. ; ) ...), so we've had the World Cup on quite a bit. Soccer looks REALLY hard! I can't imagine sprinting and doing all the amazing feet work that they do. Anyone else a soccer fan or love to watch the world cup? Can you imagine being a REF and being expected to run so much every game?

The last story that completely inspired me and already got me thinking about what more I could do to bring awareness to causes important to me, was the story of Harold Allen who ran a marathon everyday for the month of May to bring awareness to mental health. It's amazing to me what he went through to be where he is today and also how absolutely dedicated he was to running 26.2 after working a full time job AND having a family. Absolutely incredible.
